Cybersmile Campaign And Activity Highlights Of 2017

Although we have had an amazing year in terms of corporate partnerships, celebrity and influencer involvement and a big boom within the #ImACybersmiler community - it is all the lives that we have been lucky enough to save and changed for the better that make us feel all warm and proud at Cybersmile HQ! We want to start this review of 2017 by thanking everybody involved in making it our most impactful year since our founding in 2010. With thanks to our incredible corporate partners, Official Ambassadors, influencer networks, donors, individual supporters and the global network of Cybersmilers who tirelessly promote our messages of support, hope and positivity – we have been able to reach millions of people around the world with education, help and support while promoting our mission for an internet where everybody feels free to express themselves, access information and communicate without fear, bullying, harassment and abuse.

International Survey 2017

We released our 2017 International Survey with 50,000 respondents across all 50 states of the U.S. and the entire U.K. The survey highlighted social media platforms least and most associated with cyberbullying as well as focussing on bystander experiences of cyberbullying, harassment and online abuse. Participants aged 18-65+ were presented with a series of questions relating to identity based bullying and abuse including homophobic, racist, and religion based abuse.

Claire’s Bullying Prevention Month Campaign

We partnered with high street retailer Claire’s across the U.S., Canada and the U.K. to educate young people about the dangers of cyberbullying and online abuse while encouraging them to follow their dreams through the #DreamBigWithClaires anti-bullying campaign. With the use of our Official Ambassadors and influencer network, we connected with young audiences to promote self-confidence, inclusion, kindness and positivity. Customers were able to donate to Cybersmile in-store, providing crucial funds for our support services.

Cybersmile Advisory Panel

2017 saw the launch of the Cybersmile Advisory Panel – a board of world renowned experts, in areas such as gaming and esports, parenting, youth development, research, social media safety, digital security and internet and technology law – all working with us to ensure Cybersmile continue to lead the way in 2018 and beyond!

Brita And Cybersmile #FilteredLife Campaign

Cybersmile, Brita and NBA star Steph Curry teamed up for the #FilteredLife campaign – the campaign encouraged a kinder internet and offered people the chance to filter out the negativity on their social media accounts using a fun #FilterYourFeed tool developed specifically for the campaign. Funds were raised for Cybersmile during the partnership which reached over 50 million people and was nominated for a Shorty Award.

Cybersmile And Philippine Red Cross Team Up To Save Lives On And Offline

Cybersmile and the Philippine Red Cross came together to promote a national day of bloodletting to save lives on and offline, through blood donations and the encouragement of a kinder, safer internet with the use of #ImACybersmiler on social media. Official Cybersmile Ambassadors Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo headed up the nationwide initiative. On the day, across the 18 participating bloodletting centres – enough blood was donated to save 360 lives.

WWE And Cybersmile Partnership

WWE and Cybersmile teamed up to promote diversity and inclusion online – while providing education, advice and guidance to people affected by negativity online. A number of WWE superstars including Becky Lynch, Bayley, Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro, Kofi Kingston and The Big Show worked alongside Cybersmile by providing exclusive interviews, inspirational quotes, social media support and a PSA video.

TEDxYouth Event

Our TEDxYouth event in Pittsburgh welcomed a host of young thought leaders and entrepreneurs to share their inspiring ideas and solutions to the world’s problems – and their vision for the future too! The event shined a light on various topics, ranging from inclusive global education and diversity, right through to being different and living life without limits! The purpose of the event was to ignite debate about the world that we are creating – giving today’s youth and adults a collective platform to present big ideas.

Ubisoft Giveaway

Teaming up with Ubisoft, we launched a social media giveaway that encouraged gamers to support each other with positive and inspirational messaging, awarding a winner with a number of Ubisoft games and exclusive merch.

School Partnership Program

The launch of our Official School Partner Program introduced our popular educational and support resources to schools and educational institutions around the world – working together to make the internet a kinder, brighter place. Partnering Schools benefit from year-round activities, exclusive educational content, exclusive giveaways and much more. In the true Cybersmile spirit of total inclusion, we offer a free option for schools without a budget too!

New Official Ambassadors

We announced a whole host of new ambassadors throughout 2017 including golfing sensation Paige Spiranac, Youtube stars Johnny and Lauren Orlando, Jake Zyrus (formerly Charice Pempengco) along with Asian superstars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo.

Stop Cyberbullying Day

Stop Cyberbullying Day was a HUGE success again, reaching millions of people both on and offline. This year saw us launch an official Stop Cyberbullying Day website and received fantastic support from various corporate partners, among them were Intel, Twitter, WWE, Ubisoft, Riot Games and ESL. With the kind help of our partners Trunk and One Minute Briefs we also created a PSA video for the day itself (see above), which included a diverse range of celebrities and influencers including Normani Kordei, The Big Show (WWE), Johnny and Lauren Orlando, Mackenzie Ziegler, David Hasselhoff and many more!

Normani Kordei Signed T-Shirt Giveaway

Alongside our Diversity Ambassador Normani Kordei, we announced an exclusive giveaway – offering young internet users the chance to win one of three Cybersmile #POSITIVITY T-Shirt’s signed by Normani. Thousands of fans entered and participated around the world – flooding the internet with positive posts and messages.

Cybersmile, Twitter and Niche Teamed Up To #TweetForACause

Cybersmile was chosen by Twitter to be the launch partner for their inaugural #TweetForACause campaign. The event was managed by Niche – a powerful global content creator network owned by Twitter. The event saw top influencers from around the world promoting Cybersmile and the work we do – talent involved in the campaign included King Bach, Us The Duo, Trey Kennedy, Sara Hopkins Ayala, Josh Peck and many more.

Jake Zyrus Benefit Concert

Our newest Ambassador Jake Zyrus performed a benefit concert in support of Cybersmile, live-streamed around the world from an intimate setting in Quezon City, Philippines. As well as raising vital funds for our support services – Jake’s emotional performance focussed on encouraging fans to rise above online negativity and pursue their dreams.

Cybersmile Olympics At MCM Comic Con

Cybersmile and ESL teamed up for MCM London Comic Con at the ESL Esports Arena for the Cybersmile Olympics, a live-audience and live-streamed event made up of various fun activities and exhibitions to raise awareness and funds for Cybersmile.
